I would like to introduce myself as the new Chair of Governors at Highfields School. I have been a Co-opted Governor at the school for longer than I would like to admit and both my children attended this school many years ago.
As Governors we share a common objective which is to develop working partnerships with you as parents and carers and staff to ensure that every child can succeed and reach their full potential. To achieve this and to carry out our role as Governors effectively we need to ensure that we are responsive to any concerns you may have and work closely with you and the staff to develop viable solutions.
We are fortunate at Highfields School in that we have a strong and effective team of staff who embrace the ever changing face of education and provide the children with a rich and well-balanced curriculum. The children are the core of the school and the staff work tirelessly to ensure they develop the skills which will stay with them throughout life and support them in which ever future path they decide to take. The pupils at Highfields school are really developing a growth mindset enhancing both their love of learning and a resilience which is essential in life for continued development.
Our school provides a positive and safe environment where children can experiment and challenge themselves to develop their own strategies for learning.
As a governing body we work to ensure that the vision and ethos of the school are not lost. We are there to support the school and to challenge leaders on the outcomes of the children and to monitor its financial performance. It is important to note that the governors are a team united by our commitment to the school and the responsibility we share to work with all stakeholders for the school’s long-term success.
I would like to thank you for your continued support for the school and look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the coming months.
